I really enjoyed doing sessions with Jim at his studio in Herne Hill. I took my viola and we put together some ideas. I then took the stems away to develop it, and tried various vocal ideas over the top. In the end I opted for keeping it as an instrumental and I think it is more effective this way. 'Mono No Aware' is the Japanese term for the melancholic appreciation of impermanence, which really sums up the mood of this album.
